Macro photography
Also known as macro lens, macro shot. Category: Photography techniques
Macro photography is close-up photography of small subjects at high magnification, classically at a reproduction ratio of 1:1 or more. It uses macro lenses that can focus very close, and depth of field becomes very shallow.
How PhotoRobot uses it
PhotoRobot's recommended cameras guide lists macro lenses for detail and close-up work, alongside zoom lenses for general robotic-arm use and prime lenses for multi-camera set-ups. PhotoRobot's jewellery photography guide recommends a macro lens with a fixed focal length.
